The Woman at Heron Lake by Janet Racciato
Mortally wounded and searching for his tribe, John wakes up to find himself healed of his injuries. His savior is like no woman he's ever met with her inherent boldness hiding a grief far beyond her years. Add that to her cabin that couldn't possible exist in the frontiers of Colorado and John is hard pressed to believe that she's just another white settler. Unfortunately, John doesn't have time to attempt to unravel Katie's secrets. An invading Comanche tribe threatens the safety of the entire valley, and consequently his two families, the soldiers at Fort Garland and his mother's tribe. Certain that the arrival of the mysterious woman and the invading Comanche are connected, John's determined to find out how.
